MAIN TASK: MUSIC MAGAZINE
TASK ONE- RESEARCH
Analysis of my Questionnaire results...
During my research I made two questionnaires, the first asking a range of people what their interests in music are and what they like about music magazines, this questionnaire helped me decide on what music genre I was going to do for my music magazine. I asked 15 people most being aged between 24-30, this was a non-biased questionnaire, I didn't choose the ages, I handed out my questionnaires outside a supermarket and gave it to those who would be willing to fill it in. Having ages between 24-30 as the main ages their results are going to be their age group interests so this would be the age group I will go for in my target market group.Their results was that they liked POP/ROCK with 40% liking this genre, it seemed like a good genre to go with (although later I changed my genre to Rock/Indie).
Dicovering that most of my new target group bought music magazines for 'certain articles' in the magazine this question corresponds with question Seven , which asks my target group what articled they would like to read and most would like to read interviews (40% of my target group) meaning I should concerntrate on this aspect when completeing my magazine and magazine flat pack. The interviews in my magazine I think should be a mix of upcoming artists and Mainstream artists, having a POP/ROCK gernre there will be plenty of both, which is good because that is what my target group would like a mixture of mainstream and unknown artists (50% of my audience wanting it).
My second questionnaire is on the genre Pop/Indie from these results it has changed my decision on what genre I want to do the artists and bands that my target group chose such as 'Two Door Cinema Club' and 'Fall Out Boy' (question 2) these bands are more Rock/ Indie so I have changed it to Rock indie. Most of this target group seem to be female too, So I will need to bare in mind that it is more likely females are going to buy my magazine then males, so I would alter the colour scheme and fonts (things like that) to a more stereo typical female likes; however that does mean that males will not buy and read the magazine so I will have to try and make the magazine uni-sex as well as being more female dominated. (QUESTION ONE).
From this I also discovered that many of my target audience find out music from the radio meaning I will have to bare in mind what new bands/solo artists are playing on the radio and maybe even use them as a advertising platform. When I complete a interview for my double page spread I have to think carefully about what questions I will ask my artist, because as i learnt from question eight 50% of people like leanring about the artists personal life as well as their music, so I cam have a mixture of questions.
